JESSIE YAP
Introduction
Jessie, a former dancer who participated and won many titles in dance championships, first discovered yoga in 2004. After withdrawing from dance due to injuries, her yoga practice became more focused. Her love and passion for yoga lead her to deepen her study under Master Dev Kapil with Tatva Yoga’s 200 Hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training held in Nepal 2010, whereby she was awarded a Diploma in Hatha Yoga.
Jessie’s teaching emphasizes on correct alignment. She believes that one must have right alignment to be a good dancer, and the same for yoga. She guides her students with patience so that over time the postures can be performed with ease. She believes, one can learn and increase awareness of one’s own body and mind through yoga practice.
Jessie is also a certified pre-natal yoga teacher, having completed Tatva Yoga’s Pre-Natal Yoga Teacher Training at One Wellness Fitness Club and has been teaching pre-natal yoga for the past few years. She loves seeing mothers-to-be benefiting from yoga and become more confident and better prepared for child birth. Jessie loves reading books and attending workshops or related courses in order to improve her knowledge in her teaching as well as her own practice. In 2013, she completed Yin Yoga teacher training with Ty and Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga) at Koh Samui.
As a teacher, Jessie is engaged in a continuous learning journey to improve her skills. Yoga has changed her positively in many ways and she wants to share this discipline with others. Her greatest hope and joy is for her students to gain from her teaching.
